2020 PRIMARY ELECTION - TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 2020

Monday, March 30, 2020, 11 am
Public Randomization of the New Mexico Election Alphabet -the drawing for ballot placement for the 2020 Primary Election- is set for 11 am, on Monday, March 30th. As noted on the NM Secretary of State’s website, this will be LIVE streamed via a link off their web page: www.sos.state.nm.us.

What does the “Public Randomization of the New Mexico Election Alphabet” mean? Pursuant to NMAC 1.10.7, the purpose of this rule is to provide a uniform system of randomization of candidate names for the same office on the ballot in all elections conducted pursuant to the Election Code. Starting with the 2019 Regular Local Election, we can now offer Same Day Voter Registration (SDVR) services if you wish to vote in-person. If you would like to participate in the current election, please come in-person to Clerk's Office with the info outlined below:

Pursuant to NMSA 1-4-5.7, a qualified elector seeking to register to vote or update an existing certificate of registration immediately before voting shall provide:

  • (1) a New Mexico driver's license or New Mexico identification card issued through the motor vehicle division of the taxation and revenue department;

  • (2) any document that contains an address in the county together with a photo identification card; or

  • (3) a current valid student photo identification card from a post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico accompanied by a current student fee

With the upcoming election season, it is important that our voters are receiving accurate election information. County Clerk Maestas would like to remind voters that the Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is your trusted, 
credible, and verified source for election information.

We have begun to promote #TrustedInfo2020 via our social media outlets, which encourages voters to go directly to election officials websites and verified social media pages to ensure that they are getting accurate information. Through this initiative, we will continue to inform voters about the election process, voter registration, voting, and much more. Ultimately, the goal of our office is to empower every eligible Los Alamos County resident to register to vote and make their voice heard in every election.
