Minimum Qualifications:
•Must be sixteen years of age or older within two weeks of the closing date of the posting and an active high school or college student. If age eighteen or over, must possess, or ability to obtain within first thirty days of employment, and maintain a valid drivers’ license. (Dependent upon hiring division/department needs.)
•If age eighteen or older and working in recreation, must possess, or have ability to obtain within thirty days of employment, and maintain Community First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
•If working with children, must successfully complete a thorough background investigation.

•Strong computer skills.

•Experience working in hiring department/division’s area of specialty.

Position Summary:
Under close supervision, provides assistance for a program, event, project or assists with administrative and operational duties during seasonal short-term and intermittent workload division or department needs. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
•Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
•Becomes familiar with departmental policies and procedures by reading manuals, asking questions, and developing relationships with staff members.
•Develops understanding of organizational structure and organizational functions.
•Supports the needs and requirements of the assigned department or division.
•Performs a range of office support activities, to include but not limited to, answering phones and directing calls, mail distribution, greeting and directing visitors, answering customer questions.
•Performs routine clerical tasks, printing, correspondence, data collection, data entry, flyer creation, and displays, record keeping and/or word processing work.
•Establishes, maintains, collects, researches, processes, and/or updates files, records, and/or other documents.
•Assists and advises customers in the utilization of services, facilities and/or equipment.
•Performs general floor maintenance and housekeeping duties; monitors and maintains the condition and safekeeping of merchandise and/or rental equipment.
•Operates various office machines, specialized equipment, hand tools and light equipment to perform duties.
•May assist in special events, junior programs, daily functions, concession stand operations, pro shop, monitoring youth and collecting money.
•May assist with tutoring services and coordinating the work of junior volunteers.
•May organize and implement instruction, games and activities for youth and supervise large and small groups of children.
•If working in library, may shelve library materials, keep materials in order, stamp books, add book covers, unpack materials, shift library collections, and assist in selection and weeding of materials.
•May assist in maintaining ice, bleachers, lawns, greens and fairways and general maintenance of grounds and facilities.
•May learn and assist in basic golf club repair, skate sharpening (if employee is over 18 years of age), golf and ice skating instruction, and other areas of golf and ice rink.
•If working in IT, assists personnel in installation and configuration of software and hardware.
•Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
•Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
•Performs other duties as required.

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally or regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. If working in recreation or library, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance of equipment or another person.

Work Environment:
Depending upon work assignment, work may be performed in an office setting with a moderate noise level and/or in an outdoors setting with a high noise level. Some exposure to natural weather conditions with high exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises may occur. Work environment may involve some exposure to hazards or physical risks, and requires following basic safety precautions. Evening, early morning, holiday, and weekend work may be required.
