Electric Vehicle DC Fast Charger Ribbon Cutting
There are finally two DC fast chargers for electric vehicles in Los Alamos County! Come celebrate this exciting development while reminiscing about the great movie classic Back to the Future. Could DC fast chargers have helped Marty McFly and Doc Brown charge the DeLorean Time Machine enough to leap from 1955 back to 1985?
The ribbon cutting will be short and sweet, and popcorn will be served. Take your own leap back to 1985 at the Max Charge/Back to the Future photo booth! Prior to the event, be sure to enter DPU's DC Fast Charger Challenge, in which you'll calculate the DeLorean time machine's charge time, substantiate it with your smarts and wit, and have a chance to win some pretty cool DPU swag.
DPU's DC Fast Charger Challenge
The challenge: If Doc Brown and Marty McFly were to charge their DeLorean time machine using the electric vehicle DC fast charger in the Los Alamos County Municipal Building parking lot, how long would it take to charge up to the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity required for time travel, assuming the time machine hits 88 mph? The best answer will likely require a mix of cleverness and cognitive flexibility to manage assumptions that might be roadblocks in real life. (And if you think it can't be done, that's okay... we'd still welcome your witty, thoughtful analysis!)
Entries accepted until 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 11.
