Abiquiu Unit #3 Draft Tube Repair

The existing draft tube on unit #3 in Abiquiu has been experiencing wear from cavitation created by the dissolved oxygen injection system. It is scheduled for replacement.

DP Road Infrastructure Phase II - Roadway and Utility Improvements

Upgrade water, gas and electric services. Install new sewer line and lift station. Upgrade fiber and communication infrastructure where necessary. Reconstruct roadway to include curb/gutter, sidewalk, storm drain system, street lighting and cul-de-sac turnaround at eastern end. Evaluate parking area layouts on the southside of DP Road.

El Vado Penstock Bypass Valve

In the hydraulic and control system at the El Vado hydroelectric plant, a redundant isolation valve will be installed on main valve bypass piping of the penstock valve.

Foxtail Flats: Solar Power and Battery Storage

This project consists of two agreements that will put Los Alamos County on an accelerated trajectory toward meeting its goal to be a net carbon-neutral energy provider by 2040.

Condition Assessment of El Vado & Abiquiu Hydroelectric Plants

A consultant will perform comprehensive condition assessments of both the Abiquiu and El Vado Hydroelectric plants, to include the turbines, generators and all support systems.

NM-4 Water Transmission Line Replacement/Fiber Conduit Installation

Replace deteriorating water transmission line that feeds water to White Rock and install fiber optic conduit in the same trench.

Natural Gas Pipeline Repair & Replacement

Repairs and replacements in the natural gas system system are being made throughout the year.

North Community Backyard Sewer Mains and Services

In the first phase of a multi-phase project, segments of sewer lines in North Community will be repaired or replaced.

Quemazon Lift Station Rehabilitation

The oldest lift station in the Quemazon subdivision is in need of rehabilitation.

Repair Concrete Cracks in Aeration Basin

The concrete aeration basins at the Los Alamos Wastewater Treatment Plant have developed cracks that must be repaired.

Replace Overhead Electrical Distribution Lines

This ongoing utilities program includes replacement of aging overhead electrical infrastructure, such as power poles, cross-arms, and revamps (wire & transformer upgrades).

Replace underground electrical distribution

The underground system contains 1970s infrastructure that was direct-buried and in direct contact with the earth. Sections of the UG system which have experienced 3+ failures are targeted for replacement as they will fail again.

Trinity Drive Gas Valve Replacement

Aged gas valves in Trinity Drive between Knecht Street and 20th Street are being replaced.
