Parks and Open Space is pleased to announce that ADA trail construction began on the Kinnikinnik Park on Monday, October 4, 2024. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of November, though the timeline may be extended if weather conditions cause delays.

During this construction period, various trails within Kinnikinnik Park will be closed to the public. Signs will be posted by staff, and visitors are encouraged to observe all closures for their safety. However, trails leading into the canyon will remain open, allowing continued access to other parts of the open space and trail system.

This project is made possible through funding from the New Mexico Outdoor Recreation Division’s Trails + Grant Program, which supports outdoor recreation projects across the state. The project seeks to reduce barriers that individuals with disabilities may encounter when utilizing the Kinnikinnik Park Trail.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as we work to make Kinnikinnik Park more accessible to all. Please refer to the attached map for details on the closures.
