Los Alamos County's consultant, Cascadia Consulting Group, will present a draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) to the County Council at the upcoming council meeting on July 9 at 6 p.m. in the Council Chambers. Interested individuals are encouraged to attend this meeting in person at 1000 Central Ave., Los Alamos or via Zoom.

Following the presentation, the draft plan will be available for public review and comment at https://losalamoscap.konveio.com from July 9 through August 9 at 11:59 p.m. The County invites all residents to read the draft plan and provide feedback. A final version of the plan will be brought back to the Council in October to be considered for adoption.

Background:

Los Alamos County began developing a CAP in the summer of 2023 at the direction of the County Council and as recommended by the Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy and Sustainability citizen task force. This draft plan represents a comprehensive effort by Cascadia and the County involving citizen surveys, research, data collection, workshops, and focus groups.

The final CAP will serve as a planning document, building upon the County's existing environmental and climate initiatives. It will provide a strategic roadmap for reducing the community's greenhouse gas emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change.
