The ESB met on August 15, 2024 and welcomed three new members, and one re-appointed member.

We heard an overview of a symposium of national and international researchers on the topic of “Confronting the Threats of Climate Change to Global Security.” The event brought together experts from various fields to discuss the challenges posed by climate change, explore potential solutions, and develop strategies to mitigate its impact.

The Board also heard a presentation by its Chair, Joseph Chandler, on “The Challenges of Energy, Climate and Sustainability: A look at Macro Trends and Data.”

We also appointed new liaisons to other boards and teams, and heard updates from our Sustainability Manager, Council Liaison Randall Ryti, and the Bailing Twine Working Group.

At next month’s meeting on Sept. 19, the Board will hear a presentation of the ESB’s Annual Report to County Council.

The community is invite to attend ESB meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month in Council Chambers.
