Friday deadline to comment on Climate Action Plan
Published on August 07, 2024
The deadline to submit comments on Los Alamos County’s draft Climate Action Plan (CAP) is this Friday, Aug. 9, at 11:59 p.m. Individuals can review the draft plan and provide feedback online at
https://losalamoscap.konveio.com. Feedback can also be emailed to Los Alamos County’s Sustainability Manager Angelica Gurule at
angelica.gurule@lacnm.us.
The county initiated the development of the CAP in the summer of 2023, as directed by the County Council and recommended by the Los Alamos Resiliency, Energy and Sustainability citizen task force. The draft plan is the result of extensive efforts that included citizen surveys, research, data collection, workshops and focus groups.
After this Friday, Gurule and the County’s consultant, Cascadia, will review the comments received to prepare a final version of the Plan. They will then present it to the County Council in October to be considered for adoption. Once adopted, the CAP will serve as a strategic roadmap to reduce the community’s greenhouse gas emissions and assist the county in adapting to climate change impacts.
