Scam Alert

The Los Alamos Police Department is warning the public of a trending scam. Citizens are receiving calls from someone claiming one of their family members has been kidnapped and a voice is then heard in the background pretending to be the kidnapped victim. The criminals are telling citizens to provide credit card or other payment information.

“We would like to warn the public to never provide payment information over the phone. These calls are not legitimate. The callers are attempting to scam you, so just hang up,” said Deputy Chief Oliver Morris

Any citizen that has been scammed out of any monetary amount may report their crime to the Los Alamos Police Department at (505) 662-8222.
