Los Alamos National Community Survey Closes on Sept. 6
Published on August 30, 2024
Los Alamos County officials extend their gratitude to all residents who have completed the National Community Survey™ (NCS). This survey aims to provide a comprehensive picture of citizens’ perspectives on community livability. Officials also remind those who have yet to take the survey that it is not too late to provide County leadership with feedback. The survey closes for everyone (the Valid Sample and the Open Participation groups) on Friday, Sept. 6, at 10:59 p.m.
Valid Sample Group
A random sample of Los Alamos County residents were invited to participate via postcard with a unique URL. If any of these residents no longer have the postcard, they can email Polco, the independent consultant conducting the survey, to have it resent. Specifically, they can email Grace Arneson at grace@polco.us, and she will forward it accordingly.
Open Participation - Registration is not required
Additionally, the County welcomes input from other Los Alamos County residents on the survey online. When the County announced the open participation on August 23, the survey instrument was set inadvertently to require registration. This setting was in error and has since been corrected. While registering for an account is not required, participants will be asked if they would like to register using an email and ZIP code. This step assists Polco in preventing duplicate responses and verifying county residency. All responses will remain anonymous.
Residents can access the open participation survey online:
The NCS instrument is a comprehensive quality-of-life survey that benchmarks responses against other communities nationwide. According to county officials, this information adds another layer of understanding. Citizen perceptions that may appear to be “good” when viewed in isolation may, however, show the County is under or overperforming compared to other communities across the country. The survey will include questions about quality of life, important characteristics of the community, services provided by Los Alamos County, and priorities for the future.
Los Alamos County Council and leadership use the survey results to help guide strategic planning efforts, identify priority goals, and dedicate necessary resources to improve services, facilities, and initiatives.
