The Los Alamos Public Works and Fire departments have scheduled two additional public meetings regarding the site selection for the new Fire Station 4. Scheduled for October 15 and 21, both in-person meetings will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Fire Department Administration offices located at 999 Central Ave., 3rd Floor, in Los Alamos.
Officials thank all residents who participated in the site selection survey, which closed on October 7. At the upcoming meetings, the County project team will review the survey responses for the three sites under consideration.
During the first public meeting, held on September 23, officials outlined the need for a replacement fire station and provided a tour of the current facility.  Discussions focused on three locations under consideration for the future replacement fire station:
  1. The existing fire station site at 4401 Diamond Drive
  2. The golf course maintenance yard, entrance at 9999 San Ildefonso Road
  3. An area north of the playground equipment at 101 North Mesa Road
A copy of the final survey report and a recording of the first public meeting are available now on the County website: https://lacnm.com/FS4.
The County project team will present all public feedback, including survey results and comments, to the Los Alamos County Council during its November 12 meeting, when they are expected to finalize the site selection.
