Ice Skating Lessons!
Los Alamos County provides ice skating lessons for youth and adults. Lessons are provided so that you feel more comfortable on the ice with a solid foundation in skating skills. Review our various levels of skate lessons from beginner to advanced so that we can help you improve your skills in a fun and relaxed environment.
Children's Ice Skating Lessons

Ages 3 - 5 years (10 Students Max)
Children learn ice and skate safety (learning to fall, checking laces, skates), how to walk in skates, the beginning stroke (push with tow, glide), and preparation for Snowplow Stop. They will learn to put these moves together in time to games and songs.
Wednesdays (4 sessions): 3:45pm - 4:15pm

Ages 6 years & up (20 Max / 5min)
Prerequisite: Must be able to stand up on skates on the ice and skate forward and stop.
Children will review what they have learned (or know) and will learn the two-foot glide, back two-foot glide, half swizzle, and alternating scooter.

Learn to skate or improve your skills in classes with other adults. These 30-minute sessions are designed to teach the basics of skate fit, ice skating, and to help to improve technique.

These 30 minute lessons are scheduled with available instructors around your schedule. Participants receive individual attention in an enhanced learning environment. Two students of comparable skills can be scheduled for the same session. Instructors do not teach jumps or spins.
