2018 General Election - Important Upcoming Dates:

Saturday, October 20, 2018 thru Friday, November 2, 2018:

Absentee Voting In-Person (Early Voting) OPENS at Additional Locations

  • White Rock Town Hall, Training Room, 139 Longview Drive
  • LAC Municipal Building, Council Chambers, 1000 Central Avenue
  • Voting Hours 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. 
  • Monday's thru Saturday's 


Friday, November 2, 2018:

Last Day County Clerks May Mail an Absentee Ballot

(Absentee ballots shall be sent to applicants not later than on the Friday immediately prior to the date of the election)

NOTE: Completed ballots are physically due back to the County Clerk by 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, November 3, 2018:
Last day to vote early!  Voting Hours for both locations: 7:30 a.m. to 6pm

Sunday, November 4 and Monday, November 5, 2018:
   
Voting is CLOSED.

Tuesday, November 6, 2018, General Election Day:
Vote Center Locations, which are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

  • Betty Ehart Senior Center, Downstairs Classroom, 1101 Bathtub Row

Completed absentee ballots are physically due back to the County Clerk by 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, June 28, 2018:

Filing Day for Independent Candidates, Minor Party Candidates, Judicial Retention Candidates, and General Election Write-In Candidates 

9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. County Clerk’s Office (second floor, Municipal Building)

FILING DAY FOR INDEPENDENT CANDIDATES 
Independent candidates for federal offices, statewide offices, members of the legislature, public regulation commission, district judge, district attorney, member of the state board of education, magistrate or county offices shall file declarations of candidacy and nominating petitions with the proper filing officer during the period commencing at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. on the twenty-third (23) day following the primary election. Candidates for statewide and legislative offices must also file a financial disclosure statement. 

FILING DAY FOR WRITE-IN CANDIDATES
Declarations of intent to be a write-in candidate for the general election shall file the declaration of intent between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on the twenty-third (23) day following the primary election. No person shall be a write-in candidate in the general election who was a candidate in the primary election.

FILING DAY FOR MINOR PARTY CANDIDATES
Minor parties shall certify to the proper filing officer the names of their party's nominees, together with a petition containing a list of signatures and addresses of voters totaling not less than 1% of the total number of votes cast at the last preceding general election for governor or president in the state for statewide offices, county for countywide offices or in the district for offices other than statewide or county offices with the proper filing officer the twenty third day following the primary election between 9:00 a.m. and ending at 5:00 p.m. Persons certified as nominees shall be members of that party before the day the Governor issues the proclamation.

Thursday, March 1, 2018:
Secretary of State publishes petition forms and the required number of signatures for Independent and Minor Party Candidates

SPECIAL NOTICE:  Pursuant to the New Mexico Election Code (NMSA 1-4-16B), every person appearing as a candidate on the primary or general election ballot shall be a candidate only under the name and party affiliation designation appearing on the existing voter registration on file in the county clerk's office on the date of the governor's proclamation of a primary election.
